City Center, city East

Across 55th

It’s a little coffee emporium with cream cakes and a Japanese [I think] vibe. Due to the lateness of the hour, I didn’t try their coffee but had a matcha tea.

I was headed to City Center Stage II to see Machinal in a 7:30 performance.

Thai. Mexican. Vietnamese, on the other hand, is a rarer find but Lyly is just a few doors, well, blocks away.

I have tried. I want to remember to share it with my friends soon.

Art date

Gallery at America’s Society

What better circumstances under which to view art than in the presence of an artist?

My good fortune is knowing one who was available for what we dubbed “an art date.” Yes, not an overly imaginative moniker, in fact one straight to the point.

My friends who are artists are feminist artists, which is very cool.

Let me introduce you to the artist with whom I had Saturday’s art date.

LisaMaria Maya , whose work is powerfully colorful, assertive, and intricate, is a gentle woman. She exudes warmth and comfort. She creates strength. Her work is bold.

LisaMaria works in mixed media, oil, acryllic. As you can see from her portfolio, the work is valiant and expansive. Enjoy.

Bring home a coloring book that will let you explore your vision through hers. Invite her to make work especially for you or find a piece from her repertoire.

Shaping up

Buildings form three dimensional shapes in space.

It’s the iconography of our cities and the geometry of our lives.

Some stand out and have more promise and more prominently to the eye.

At times, it’s because of the light in the sky or the juxtaposition of nearby structures. Sometimes, it’s just how we see ’em. In real time, this day, from our perspective.

This one formed its shape in my mind when I passed.
