Treelined

We are headed into the season of discarded trees. How do I know this? The plaza at the Kips Bay residences is kiosk -to -kiosk full of Christmas trees.

There are short ones in stands all set for the front room of your studio apartment.

There are tall ones that, once wrapped, can be carried in triumph to grace your Westside living room. They will show off your high ceilings nicely.

You will buy one that is appropriate for your circumstances. If you are thrifty and a person who plans ahead, you’ll be out shopping by this weekend.

Others of us will wait. At the last moment, we’ll head out to a corner stand. Our perfect tree will stare back at us with that festive yuletide look.

Overnight, and in a hurry, we’ll prepare for Christmas.

Tree decorating can be a simple sport if everyone at home chips in. Gifts in place and voila, you’re ready.

A week or so later, you’ll dismantle it all and haul that evergreen to the curb.

Tis the season, as I said.
