I spy with my little eye

Never heard of New York Sun

This corner is new to me
Colors, textures, sizes, open facades, or closed facades, it’s a bustle.
The bend and the meet give this structure a unique flavor.
Yellow framed windows and repeated above where it hollows out to the roof.

The way this facade hangs over the entry below gives its geometry a sense of its own context out of the context of the building on which it rests
Is there anything that says New York more than a truck with theatre (spelled just that way) writ large on its side.

Planning

Would the city be prettier if it were all of a style, planned, and coordinated?

We have a jumble, buildings of all types cohabiting in every space. Long, tall, short, pointy-topped, balconied or not.

What facade would we impose over a conformed city? How would such an entity progress?

Would it be more beautiful to behold? Or just frozen in time and materials?

High rising

Do I have a preference
Low rising or high-rises
Hitting the skies, aiming
For clouds. Ambitious 
Teetering into the blue
Or on this morning, the
Grey. This has always
Been the future. Upward
Towering over the little
5-storey and even way
Above your 15th floor
Condominium, claiming
Its place. Not just holding 
Its ground, but piercing
The sky. Ever higher and
Bigger. Is it better, or am
I just too conservative?

On my walk

The snowy pillows of clouds mirror the remaining snow heaps in the park.*

The crane is two blocks west working on an immensely tall building that is scheduled to dominate this area.

There is a romance of the facade in style and variety.
