How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?

When I admire the streetscape of the city, I am definitely unplugged. My only contact with my phone and its data is when I go to click a photo.

I am adding café au lait to my menu, and it is such a welcome addition. The one at Le Petit Parisien is a particular treat.

So many different approaches to the balcony!

Bed Bath and Beyond has been inviting me to visit my store for bargains in the wake of its imminent closing. In fact, “my” store closed long ago. These folks hanging out in front of it look a little lost, as if this were a regular haunt they miss.

There are two little gems from NYC’s bygone days sitting side by side beside the ramp to the 59th Street Bridge. It’s been the Ed Koch Bridge for several years, I just haven’t adjusted to the news.

I believe that I passed another one of these Ohm Centers on 2nd Avenue in the 50s. Maybe not….

No sooner had the skies turned grey with a yellow fringe, giving me just enough time to shut down the house, then a thunderous downpour washed over the windows.

This traffic should be inspiration enough for us to just take a walk.
What jobs have you had?
Is walking around and writing about it a job? Well, I kind of feel like today it is my job.

Admittedly, it’s a self-created job, one I took on as a way of sharing my views and tours of our city.
Usually, a job brings home a paycheck. My pay for this job is the gratification of having you read my words.
Do you practice religion?
God, if s/he exists, like the devil [ditto] is in the details.

This bar, on First Avenue in the 60s, takes its Sherlock very seriously. Me, not a Baker Street Irregular, I am just ambling by.
The watch has become obsolete – you know, unless it counts our steps or announces incoming texts. What would Holmes have said?

What are you good at?
Writing is my way of expressing my ideas. It lets out a lot of my creativity. It’s a passion of mine.

Walking is another thing about which I am passionate. When I walk I think of what I will share in my writing. I also illustrate my thoughts with pictures.
What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?

There was a time when I aspired to fame and fortune. Fame in the form of my name on the side of a building.
Not any building but a good sized New York City edifice. The plaque? Big. (Not like 45 ‘uge but tasteful big.)
Now? This little country miniature is all I need. No plaque with my name even on the mailbox. I don’t have to own it. I just enjoy it in passing.
Who would you like to talk to soon?

How soon are we talking, exactly?
I need to have a conversation with Henry James. He seems to have a grasp on the atmosphere of the NYC of his time. His time is something I would like to recapture.
I guess I could do very well speaking with Edith Wharton as well. She would be a fount of interesting tidbits about life here back in the day.
