Magyar Haz is up the block from the Psychoanalytic Institute.



I am not sure I see any significance in that fact.

Rising above seems to be the plan for many NYC construction projects.

Directly above, a crane towers over the New York Public Library from a block away.





It’s such a beautiful day. It deserves documenting.





It’s a concrete city, so vegetative oases are always welcome. And often small.
This one, like other gardens beside and between buildings, is also behind bars.

Big Brother was once just scary science fiction. Now he’s monitoring the speed at which you took that corner.
Intruding your sounds on others is denying their right to quiet. If people were respectful of others, we would not need all the bylaws and equipment to keep people “in line.”

Yes. It is a public safety issue. As is the new noise camera. This one is meant to deter excessive noise pollution on our city streets.
Very noble goals that erode our privacy. You might say that those who don’t keep their speed to a limit or avoid disturbing their neighbors need to be kept in check for the common good.
You would be right, but right doesn’t mean we aren’t trodding on another’s rights.
It’s a thorny debate.









1, 1a, 1b: This little balcony appeared out of nowhere over my head. It and the open window frame behind it made me think of a stage set.

2&2a. Something struck me as comical about this bar table set in front of a restaurant. It just seems too delicate for the situation.
3. A Barnes & Noble that Amazon did not put out of business is on upper Broadway.
4. Another misplaced business is still in business diagonally across from the B&N. It’s not the thriving cineplex it once was, but it’s still standing!
5. & 6. Chalets of the Upper West Side: I am not familiar enough to be able to give a tally.
These two are close enough to each other to be neighborly.
6. Zabar’s is a familiar landmark at 80th and Broadway. 5. The other is a few blocks north and has a sign that is advertising Zabar’s. I think this is a coincidence.
