Plus ça change

It’s a strange phenomenon this brutal heat early in the summer but met with crisp clear air.

Everything is relative. Language like law has been corrupted and watered down. A felony used to sound like a serious threat and a real deterrent.
Now, it takes 34 of them to help raise some serious campaign loot.

Would the city be prettier if it were all of a style, planned, and coordinated?

We have a jumble, buildings of all types cohabiting in every space. Long, tall, short, pointy-topped, balconied or not.
What facade would we impose over a conformed city? How would such an entity progress?
Would it be more beautiful to behold? Or just frozen in time and materials?
I have no pictures for you but a couple of anecdotes from this morning.
Generally, UPS and FedEx employ friendly and polite drivers.
Not this guy.
While aggressively pushing his cart of deliveries behind a man walking along, this FedEx miscreant was shouting “Muévelo” as if the road were his alone.
A man passed me wearing a t shirt emblazoned Brooklyn Seltzer Museum. I am a huge fan of Hal’s. Wonder if that qualifies an exhibit.
Burt has told me of the magical seltzer deliveries his mother orchestrated. His favorite was the strawberry syrup.
We should reference the Barbershop Museum to this sighting. So I will.

After many years of being a neighborhood mystery, it’s finally fulfilling its potential. The Gracie Inn is being torn down along with a little corner-once-upon-a-luncheonette.

Been there. Seen that. Being here with my honey today made it brand new.
