Not their best food forward

PopUp Bagels hides under the humble brag “Not famous/But known.” Merch not food takes front and center.

Me? I like to see rows of freshly baked bagels welcoming me as I enter a bagelry.

A little down the avenue is Modern, a bakery with very inviting babka with cream toppings in the window. Bagels, all up front, look fab.

Unfortunately, an extra long toasting yielded a disappointing and under toasted mushy mealy bagel.

When you add to this last week’s ungrammatical pizza parlor with its thick crust, I may not have experienced the best New York has to offer.

Highly irregular

Upon entering Unregular Pizza, my inner grammarian is fighting the premise.

Don’t get me wrong, I like pizza even if it doesn’t speak perfect English.

The predecessor at this space sold pizza by the ounce, sort of. This one is sqared.

I chose zucchini, which presents a refreshing green. The slice is large.

My quibble, the crust is thick. It’s also not traditional dough. All in all I would give it an eight out of ten. Check out the colorful price board and take out boxes.

Shaded

Just crossing from 79th Street to East End Avenue, I felt the cool comfort of the trees.

It wasn’t just the feeling that it was 10 degrees cooler here. It was also less humid.

Henderson Place is an oasis in my dreams. It’s a liitle village of little villas.

The original school building was not a thing of beauty, but it had its moments.

The upward expansion is just plain ugly or maybe not so n plain but especially ugly.

Of course, that’s my aesthetic opinion.

On the go

What is it that fascinates about moving trucks? Is it the sense that you aren’t tied down?

The footloose feeling of going anywhere at any time seems to be seductive.

In reality, moving is unpleasant, stressful, and arduous. The art of finding boxes in which to pack up is a hard chore.

Preparations ahead of the actual day are nonstop work. The day itself is nerve-wracking and far from a picnic.

Never mind, I know I have made my point.

It’s nice that the moving and storage companies have such clever mottos on all their trucks.

I also learned a new word for these vehicles: pantechnicon.

Bonus!
